Adobe Fuse Export



Fuse characters to Dimension would be very helpful for me. My current workflow is: - Create scene in Dimension and render out - Create character in Fuse - Open Dn render in Photoshop and add Fuse character - Position and pose character using Mixamo pre-sets - Export posed character from Ps as 3D object. If you want to do custom modeling, rigging, skinning, texturing, or other editing before using the Fuse CC model in your creative project, you can export the model as an.obj along with its texture maps. To export you model as an.obj: From the main menu, choose File Export Export Model as OBJ. In this demo, I show my class the basics of making a character in the new Adobe Fuse. From there, I show them how to import the character into Blender. Adobe Fuse is no longer in development and will discontinue support on September 13, 2020. For detailed information and assistance, see Adobe Fuse end-of-service FAQ. Adobe acquired Fuse four years ago, in 2015. While it would seem that by discontinuing Fuse CC, Adobe is shifting focus away from 3D models - and in particular humanoids -, that is certainly not.

The 'Animate' and 'Preview' model sets are included with the demo version. All others require 'Core' or 'Pro' versions to work.

To install downloaded sets, unzip (using the 7-zip utility) into the 'FaceGen/Model Sets/' subdirectory of your user documents directory.

  • Use the MakeTarget Blender plugin to create a .target file (the MakeTarget standalone program uses an older incompatible mesh)
  • Overlay the original MakeHuman mouth and teeth textures on the exported texture image, if desired.

Adobe Fuse

Fuse no longer supports customization. The instructions below only work with the legacy Fuse 1.3 version.

After selecting this model set and choosing between the male and female meshes:

  • Export to OBJ
  • Start Adobe Fuse and go to 'File' -> 'Import' -> 'Import Characters'
  • Browse and select your exported OBJ file then hit 'Next'
  • In the 'Mesh Information' dialog, select 'Customize Type' 'FemaleFitA' or 'MaleFitA' to match the mesh you selected in Modeller above. Hit 'Next'.
  • In the 'Texture Files' dialog, choose from 'Use texture maps from a character in your Database' and select 'FemaleFitA' or 'MaleFitA'. Adobe Fuse does not import albedo (color) maps so we don't do that here
  • Use your character within Fuse with their auto-generated albedo maps, then when you export from fuse you can apply the albedo map you exported from FaceGen.

Realtime

A head mesh divided into face (630 tris) and head (292 tris) halves with different texture maps, a full set of animation morphs, and a torso. Optimized for real-time modification with the FaceGen SDK. Also includes mouth (82 tris) and torso (250 tris).

Modeller 3.5

The head mesh from the older Modeller 3.5. Teeth, tongue and sock are separate meshes and share a color map, and the left and right eye surfaces are separate meshes and share a color map. To use with newer versions of Modeller you must follow the 'Migrating Model Sets' instructions here.

FaceGen v2

A high and medium resolution head model with separate eye models, both quite dense. A single texture map for the head (except the eyes) with inner lips and eyeliner areas mapped separately, UV layout exaggerating the face area. Hemispherical eyes (or somewhat hemispherical depending on the face shape) for easier eye motion. Includes 31 animation morphs.

What is a FUSE file?

A FUSE file is a 3D model created by Adobe Fuse, a program used to create 3D human characters. It is the native format used to save 3D human models in Fuse and includes information about the face, body, clothing, and textures of the model. FUSE files can be saved, closed, and reopened for further editing.

The FUSE file includes references to model assets instead of actually storing the assets, which would increase the size of the FUSE file. The references to the locations of the asset files, which are read by Fuse to load the assets when opening the FUSE file. Therefore, you should not move the FUSE file or its assets. If you do, the model may not appear correctly in Fuse.

If you need to move the FUSE file, export it as an .OBJ file in Fuse. To export the file, select File → Export → Export Model as OBJ.

To open a FUSE file in Fuse, select File → Open from the menu. To create a FUSE file in Fuse, select File → New Model or the 'Begin a New Model' icon in the toolbar.

To save the FUSE file, select File → Save or click the 'Save' icon in the toolbar. You can also save Fuse 3D models directly to Creative Cloud Libraries, then drag them into Adobe Photoshop.

NOTE: Fuse is often used by video game developers or modders to create or modify characters in games.

Adobe Fuse CC (formerly Fuse Character Creator) is a discontinued 3D computer graphics software developed by Mixamo that enables users to create 3D characters. Its main novelty is the ability to import and integrate user generated content into the character creator.[1][2] Fuse was part of Mixamo's product suite and it is aimed at video game developers, video game modders, and 3D enthusiasts.[3]

The technology underneath Fuse was initially developed as a character creator at Stanford University[4] from the work of Siddhartha Chaudhuri[5] in Prof. Vladlen Koltun's group. Chaudhuri's work resulted in a SIGGRAPH publication in 2011.[6] Mixamo also partnered with Allegorithmic in the creation of Fuse.[4] All texturing within Fuse is driven by Allegorithmic's Substance Designer.[7] A beta version of Fuse was originally launched on Steam in November 2013.[1] Fuse 1.0 was officially launched in March 2014.[8] Adobe has stopped development and discontinued support for Fuse on September 13, 2020.[9][10]

Fuse is a client based product that lets users choose and modify character components such as body parts in real-time.[11] Users can also customize their characters with clothing and texture options provided by Allegorithmic.[11] Fuse's main novelty is the ability for users to import and automatically integrate their own content into the character creation system, leveraging all the features of pre-loaded content.[1][2] Fuse characters are rigged through Mixamo online service. Characters have a bone driven rig and a blend shape based facial rig for facial animation.[7]

Use and availability[edit]

Fuse is used mostly by game developers and game modders. Fuse is available on Mixamo, on the Unity Asset Store and on Steam marketplace where it has a user base of 40,000 users as of September 2014. Fuse characters can be imported through a specific series of steps into games created with the Source SDK by Valve.

All content available within Fuse is royalty free and regulated by the Fuse End User Licensing Agreement.[12]
